Flood damages N10 bn property in UI

The University of Ibadan lost property estimated at N10billion to the flood disaster that ravaged Ibadan city last Friday.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaac Adewole, the loss was so much that the management had appealed to the Federal Government for assistance.

Prof. Adewole said: “There is no way we can handle this alone. For us to return to our form, we certainly need government’s assistance because this devastation is quite massive”.

Breaking down the losses, he said: “The major calamity suffered by the university include the washing away of the Fish Farm with different species of fish valued at about N300 million, over flooding of the Zoological Garden, leading to the death of animals, extensive damage of the Teaching and Research Farm and the destruction of books estimated to the tune of N2billion.

Why we Bombed UN Building - Boko Haram

According to the so called Yusifiyya Movement, also known as Boko Haram, said it attacked the United Nations (UN) building in Abuja because United States and the United Nations  are supporting the Federal Government to  persecute Muslims  in  Nigeria.

Speaking for the group, Abu Kakah, states the sect considered the US, the UN and the Nigerian government as common enemies and  would continue to attack them because they are infringing on the rights of the Muslims.

He accused the Federal Government of insincerity in dialoguing with Boko Haram, saying the only condition they would accept to talk  with government was unconditional release of all their members whom, he said, are in prisons all over the country.

Massive Explosion Hits UN Building, Abuja!

A devastating explosion rocked the United Nations Building in the Central Area of Abuja on Friday morning killing a number of people, leaving others trapped and causing heavy damage.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber who rammed a car loaded with explosives into the building having driven past the security barriers. 

 

Rescue workers, security operatives  moved in promptly to evacuate the building.

The explosion is believed to have been perpetrated by the Boko Haram Islamic sect.  Suspected members of the sect had on Thursday hit police stations in Adamawa and Borno States before proceeding to rob banks in those states.

     

Evangelist Ebenezer Obey's Wife Dies

The Former Juju musician turned evangelist, Ebenezer Obey lost his wife Lady Evangelist Juliana Olaide Obey to the cold hands of death on tuesday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The deceased, Pastor (Mrs) Julianah Olaide has been married to the musician since 1963. She was aged 67.

She is survived by her husband, Evang. Obey Fabiyi (MFR), Shina, Rotimi, Bukky Obey-Olaiya, Lanre, Toluwaleke and Folarin.

The 23-year-old singer lifted up her head and displayed the two tiny scars as she performed on stage at the music event at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex.

 

Speculations are, the scar could possibly be from the punch ex-boyfriend Chris Brown gave her in 2009 or a plastic surgery procedure, such as chin reduction or a chin lift.

Revealed - Kidnappers Of Mikel Obi’s Dad

The police unveiled the identities of the six kidnappers who had held hostage the father of footballer, John Mikel Obi, Elder Michael Obi.

The photograph of the six kidnappers was released in Kano today by the State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris who said they were apprehended at Kabuga quarters of the city.

The suspects include a lady, Nkechi Ossai, Ifeanyi Essien, Jacob Cowen, Ndubusi Friday, Basil Chukwuma and a Nigerien, Sule Ibrahim.

Mikel Obi's father found, six suspects arrested

The kidnapped father of Chelsea and Nigeria footballer John Mikel Obi has been found alive after a police raid in Kano on Monday.

According to the Kano state police commissioner, Ibrahim Idris, “Obi was rescued and six suspects were arrested, five men and a woman, No ransom was paid.

Describing the August 12 kidnap, Obi says a van in military colour overtook him and blocked his way as he was driving home from work, he said. Two men in military uniform jumped out and asked him to follow them.

“They forcefully pushed me into the van and when I asked them where we were going to, they said I should wait and see,” he said.

“They wound up the window so nobody could hear me even if I had screamed, they beat me to pulp and only stopped when I became very weak.”

He said they sought a ransom of 10 million naira ($64,000/45,000 euros) and eventually drove him to Kano, hundreds of kilometres away from Jos.

The investigations reveals that Wizkid, whose real names are Ayo Balogun impregnated an undergraduate named Sola several months ago, and the lady has since put to bed. 

Before delivering a baby girl for Wizkid two months ago, sources say Sola who resides in Magodo, Lagos was studying in the University of Legon, Accra, Ghana.

Al-Qaeda want David Letterman dead

David Letterman, a TV talk show host and comic artist, is the latest target of terrorists after he made fun of Osama Bin Laden’s death.

The threat to the comedian was posted on a website named as Shumukh-al-Islam that allegedly belongs to Al-Qaeda. The post was made by Umar al Basrawi, who is also a frequent poster on several other Islamic jihadist forums.

Basrawi wrote “I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears, one of the lowlifes of the Jews, and one of their pigs, mocking.

He further wrote"To the righteous Muslims in America: Isn't there among you a man like Sayyid Nosair, the Egyptian, who can cut off the tongue of this lousy Jew and silence him forever".
