Jessica Simpson's Parents File for Divorce after 34 years of Marriage

After 34 years of marriage, Tina and Joe Simpson, parents to pop stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, have decided to call it quits.

Their statement to PEOPLE magazine came the same day that buzz built around a story in the National Enquirer reporting that Joe has announced he's gay. 

"It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved," says the rep. "Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time." 

Tina, 52, and 54-year-old Joe – a manager and former minister who is often referred to as "Papa Joe" – are also parents to Ashlee Simpson and have two grandchildren between their daughters. 

None of the Simpsons have spoken out further about the split – or the rumors.

 Appearing on the magazine's cover, the newlyweds open up for the first time about their special day and share exclusive photos in the brand-new issue of PEOPLE.

The couple of five years exchanged personal vows in a romantic Italian ceremony on Oct. 19, "it was a really special evening," Timberlake, 31, "It was a total fantasy experience," adds Biel, 30. 

One cause for emotion? The singer-actor played the guitar and serenaded his beautiful bride-to-be as she walked down the aisle in a custom, petal pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown. 

"It was an original piece I wrote specifically for the evening and for her," says Timberlake, who wore a Tom Ford tux he helped design. 

The pair welcomed 100 guests, including close friends Jimmy Fallon, Andy Samberg, Timbaland and Biel's 7th Heaven costar Beverley Mitchell, to the Borgo Egnazia resort in southern Italy for a week-long wedding celebration. 

"It was a lot to ask of them to travel, so we figured we'd give our guests a good party!" says Timberlake.

After five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. 

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," says Holmes's attorney Jonathan Wolfe. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." 
Cruise's rep tells PEOPLE: "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy." 

The Rock of Ages star, 49, wed actress Holmes, 33, in an Italian castle in November 2006. They have daughter Suri, 6. 


This was Holmes's first marriage and the third for Cruise, who previously was married to the actresses Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children, and Mimi Rogers.
