Kelly Rowland Talks On Dirty Laundry As She Covers The September Issue Of Essence Magazine

The R&B songstress, Kelly Rowland, 32, graces the latest issue where she opens up about everything from finding her confidence, to being happy for Beyonce but wanting her own success. Check out a few interview excerpts below via Essence;

 On the real meaning behind ‘Dirty Laundry:

“For a long time I wasn't happy, but that had nothing to do with Beyoncé, that had to do with me trying to get my life in order and make better decisions for myself. I’m seeing all these wonderful things happen for her and I am happy for her. But I want a path. I want things to pop off for me, too. Not on her level but whatever my level is supposed to be.”

On why she was hesitant to open up before:

“I didn't want anybody to judge me. But now I don’t care,” she says. “Judge me if you want to. And as a matter of fact, it won’t even count, ‘cause the only person who can judge is God.” 

On her workout regime and finding her strength:

“I see the beauty in boxing,” she says. “It teaches me strength, physically but mostly mentally. I had to learn my strength, because for so long I could have been tougher than I was.”

Kelly Rowland was recently on the Wendy Williams show where she talked about a lot things. Nothing was off limit, from her wigs to her crush on “X Factor” co-judge Simon Cowell and even her breast implants.

She also talked about her song Dirty Laundry and really explained the abuse from her ex. “I was in a relationship that was so hard on me,” Kelly said of the relationship, which lasted three-and-a-half-to-four years.

The former destiny's child singer also talked about her new boyfriend, Blue Ivy, Beyonce and more. Watch the full interview after cut....

Kelly Rowland teams up with R.Kelly for the remix of her latest single 'Dirty Laundry'. While she pours out more emotions on this track, R.Kelly also takes aim at his haters and competition. 

He blasts younger competitors and accuse them of copying his style. On his verse, he sings;

“See the truth of the matter is everybody can’t do this...

And that’s why I got these shxt talking R&B singers on my hit list…

They bite my style so much I swear I should write a book...

And when I look at TV I say Goddamn, that’s my look”

Kelly Rowland airs out her darkest secrets in her new song “Dirty Laundry,” the second single off her upcoming album Talk a Good Game. 

The singer reveals she was jealous of Beyonce’s successful career after Destiny's child break up and was in an abusive relationship.

On the track, she says;

“When my sister was on stage, killin’ it like a motherfu**er/ I was enraged, feelin’ it like a motherfu**er/ Bird in a cage, you would never know what I was dealing with/ Went our separate ways, but I was happy she was killin’ it/ Bittersweet, she was up, I was down,” 

She also speaks candidly about a tumultuous relationship with an ex-boyfriend; 

“I was battered, he hit in a window like it was me until it shattered/ He pulled me out, he said, ‘Don’t nobody love you but me, not your mama, not your daddy, and especially not B.”

The former Destiny's Child singer has been unveiled as the new face of the Make Mine Milk campaign.
