Ebony Magazine Honors Trayvon Martin With Four Different Covers Featuring Dwyane Wade, Spike Lee, And Boris Kodjoe

In February 2012, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in Sanford, Fl. by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was acquitted last month. At the time of his death, Martin was wearing a hoodie, one of the reason prosecutors said the 17-year-old was possibly profiled.

In response to the “not-guilty” verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, EBONY magazine has devoted not one but four separate September 2013 cover issues to Trayvon Martin which features three celebrity black fathers with their sons wearing gray hoodies and the fourth cover dedicated to Trayvon’s family.

According to the site, the magazine’s groundbreaking September 2013 issue will explore concerns around racial bias, how to find solutions for those concerns and how to heal and move forward. The four covers include: Trayvon’s parents, his mother Sybrina Fulton, father Tracy Martin and his brother, Jahvaris FultonSpike Lee and his son, Jackson; Dwyane Wade and his sons Zaire and Zion; and Boris Kodjoe with his son Nicolas.
