The family of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election in Nigeria, Chief MKO Abiola, has called on the Federal Government to declare the late business mogul am ex-president of the country.
Head of Abiola family and a younger brother to the late politician, Alhaji Mubashiru Abiola, stated this at their family house in Abeokuta when some officials of Ogun State Government led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun and a campaign train of civil society groups visited them as part of activities marking the 19th anniversary of the annulment of the election.
While describing his late brother as the ‘sacrificial lamb’ for democracy in Nigeria’ Abiola lamented that, the family had been neglected, noting that the only thing that could make the soul of the deceased rest in peace is for the Federal Government to declare him as an ex- President of the country.
