The rap diva was recently interviewed on 'The Breakfast Club' where she dished on her E! reality show, the availability of her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, her own record label, and feud with fellow "American Idol" judge Mariah Carey.
On the editing of her E! reality show “Nicki Minaj: My Truth”: “It was clear that [the producers] had an agenda and a pre-conceived idea of what they were going to show. I had to approve everything, but I’m also extremely busy. I kinda felt a little cornered. I would have shown a wider scope of what happens in my day. We’re not only yelling about steamers.”
On the availability of The Re-Up: “It’s hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well and they didn’t want to take a chance. Target and Wal-Mart are not selling the album, and Target is actually my biggest retailer. Best Buy only took limited [stock] because they wanted to play it safe. It kinda sets you up to fail.”
On launching her own record label: “I have my own label and I have two artists, Parker and Brinx. I haven’t decided who we’re gonna partner up with as far as a larger company.”
On rumors that she threatened Mariah Carey: “I’m not a violent person. I don’t believe in violence, I don’t promote violence.”
On her clothing line: “You guys are gonna be surprised when you find out who we are doing the line with, but it’s in everyone’s best interest to do it that way.”
On her feud with Mariah: “She didn’t want another woman on the show. That’s fine, but I’m there and I’m gonna make the most of it. It would be great to work with her because she’s so funny and when we shot the video ['Up Out My Face'] together, we had such a great time.”
On how she felt after her “Idol” experience: “I was hurt. It hurt my feelings. I feel like when you go to a new school and you’re being picked on. What did I do wrong? What did I say? I couldn’t make it better. It was like jab, jab, jab. I’ma respect you, but I’m not gonna let you play me ever.”
