Governor Fashola's Father Dies At 80

Alhaji Ademola Fashola, the father of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 80.

According to statement released by the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Mr. Lanre Babalola;
“In total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the passage of our husband, father, grandfather  and great grandfather, Ibrahim Ademola Bayo Fashola,  which occurred on Monday August 5, 2013, at the age of 80. He is survived by his wives, children and grandchildren and great grand children. He will be buried at Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi at 1pm on Tuesday (today).”
Ademola had been battling with an illness since last year and was even flown abroad for medical treatment. The governor, who is on Umrah in Saudi Arabia has cut short his visit to be in the state on Monday (yesterday).

Ademola worked in Daily Times, where he rose to become an Advert Manager in the company. He is survived by eight children. May his soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.

River State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi Set To Cover OJB's Entire Kidney Transplant Cost

According to OJB's friend and Head of the SaveOJB fund, Nomoreloss, the River's state Governor has approved the sum of $100,000 to be released Friday which is the entire cost of the ailing producer's surgery.

Nomoreloss took to twitter to make the announcement... No word from the Governor's camp yet but we will wait and see it unravel tomorrow.

EFCC Takes Possession of Ex- Bayelsa Governor Sylva's Properties

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday said it had taken possession of 48 properties belonging to the former governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Timpre Sylva.

Sylva is standing trial at a Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged N6.46bn fraud. He was first arraigned on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

A statement by the spokesperson for EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, in Abuja said the interim forfeiture was informed by a court order granted by Justice A. R Mohammed last December 21.

He said, “Assets belonging to the former governor against which a forfeiture order was obtained by the EFCC include a mansion at 3 River Niger Street, plot 3192 Cadastral zone AO, Maitama District Abuja; nine units (comprising six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom apartments) at 8 Sefadu Street Wuse zone 2, plot 262 Cadastral zone AO2, Wuse Abuja; two unit duplexes at 5 Oguta Street, plot 906 Cadastral zone Wuse 11 Abuja.

Update: Governor Suntai Survived Air crash, in Critical Condition - State Secretary



According to Saharareporters,the secretary to the Taraba State government has said that Governor Dambaba Suntai of Taraba State was one of the survivors of an air crash at the Yola Airport in Adamawa State. Our earlier report  named the governor as one of the dead passengers in the small plane that was being piloted by Mr. Suntai at the time of the crash.

The secretary to the government of Taraba State confirmed that the governor survived the crash, but was in critical condition. The Secretary stated that the injured governor had been conveyed to a hospital in Yola.

Two of Mr. Suntai’s aides died when the plane crashed, SaharaReporters learnt. An eyewitness said there were five passengers in the small plane at the time of the accident. Mr. Suntai was piloting.

Eyewitnesses at the scene had earlier told Saharareporters that two persons survived the plane crash.

Taraba State Governor, Dambaba Suntai Dies in Aircrash

The Governor of Taraba State, Dambaba Suntai has died in an aircrash at the Yola airport in Adamawa state. 

The governor died in a small plane piloted by him. His remains at the crash site as at the time of breaking this news. Eyewitnesses on  the scene said 2 people survived the plane crash.

So sad... may he rest peacefully.

Ben Bruce to Run for Governor Of Bayelsa State


The Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray Bruce, has declared his intention to run for Governorship of Bayelsa State…where he is from.

He picked up his nomination form over the weekend and is going to contest under the umbrella of PDP next year.

The PDP Primary election is billed for November 14, 2011.
