He was awarded before the actual award ceremony at the Nokia Theater, Los Angeles started beating out 2face, Toya Delazy (South Africa), Donald (South Africa), R2Bees (Ghana) & Radio and Weasel (Uganda).

Losing last year to WizKid & Sarkodie from Ghana, this makes Ice Prince the 4th Nigerian to win this award, joining WizKid (2012), Dbanj & 2face (2011).
